Company resources say that the production will be starting on 2015. The new M-class body style will be against the BMW X6 and more likely it will be called as MLC.

Executives said that the "M" designation would ultimately represent a family of vehicles beyond the inaugural of SUV.

Mercedes is trying to compete with the Germany rival BMW for the title of best-selling luxury brand in the United States.

Through June BMW sold 113,705 vehicles in U.S whereas Mercedes had sold only 110,926 vehicles without counting its Sprinter commercial vans.
