Galatea's Hyundai Tiburon / Coupe brings Italy and Korea together, Results Questionable

"Long live the GK Tiburon!" has got to be the rallying cry of Galatea Automobiles, the company that's responsible for the creation of the Revision. Beneath the newly styled body - they're calling it a "kit car" - is a typical, everyday, underpowered second-gen Hyundai Tiburon coupe with leather, a V6 powerplant, and a sunroof.

The Revision is Galatea's masterpiece, showcasing its achievement of "designing a car that is both exclusive and beautiful, without the associated expenses of owning an exotic car."

The Revision was penned by Robert Fechtmann with the intent of emulating Italian style for a steal: $5,180. For the five g's, owners will get the new lights, hood, fenders, bumpers, and installation guide.All told, it should cost around $16,000 to build; in my opinion, that's about $16,000 too much to invest in an old Hyundai.

Hyundai Santa Fe, Elantra and Tiburon Also Recalled over Rust Problems

No sooner than we told you about the new recall on the MY2001-2004 Sonata, XG300 and XG350 models over corrosion issues of the front subframe, we learnt that Hyundai has also just issued two more separate recalls for a total of three vehicles, again for rust-related problems. In particular, the Korean carmaker issued a recall on 170,610 MY2001-2003 Elantra and MY2003 Tiburon Coupe models for corrosion and thinning of the steel in the lower control arms of the front suspension and another recall on 85,036 MY2001-2003 Santa Fe SUVs, this time for rust problems in relation to the rear suspension trailing arm.

Hyundai said that in both cases, the recalls concern vehicles originally sold or currently registered in the 'salt-belt' states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.

Hyundai CEO reveals Details on Tiburon Successor that's Planned for 2011

With the new, rear-wheel drive Genesis Coupe already available on the market, Hyundai is now concentrating on the successor of the Tiburon (called Hyundai Coupe in Europe and other markets) that is scheduled to be introduced in 2011. Speaking with Autoweek magazine, John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, revealed that the firm's new coupe will be positioned below the current Tiburon in terms of size and more importantly, in price. If you're thinking in the likes of the long-gone Honda CRX, you're probably right.

"It will have a lower price point, kind of eco sport positioning, where it is not going to be all about performance," Krafcik said. "It is going to be very fuel efficient. It is going to be stylish, a real nice complement to the Genesis coupe," he added.

Krafcik also noted that the new coupe will share a front-wheel platform with the Hyundai Accent and Elantra and that it will be offered with an entry-level 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, adding that the car's styling will draw its inspiration from the Veloster 2+2 coupe concept that was revealed at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show.

We can't say that we're surprised with Krafcik's revelations as it was apparent that Hyundai would follow a different road with the Tiburon's successor after the introduction of the sportier and more powerful, RWD Genesis Coupe.

Hyundai Coupe 2.0 “Cool Emotion” Limited Edition Version

While it remains unclear whether or not Hyundai will offer the all-new RWD Coupe in Europe, the Korean automaker’s German division has unveiled yet another limited edition version of the current FWD Coupe (Tiburon in the States). Called Coupe 2.0 “Cool Emotion”, the 2+2 seater is offered in “Crystal White” and “Carbon Grey” combined with red colored leather seats. Based on the 143Hp 2.0-liter variant, the Cool Emotion sports 18-inch Borbet alloy wheels, aluminium trim in the interior and automatic climate control. Prices are set at €25,590 with production limited to 100 units. -One more pic after the jump

2009 Hyundai Coupe – Tiburon TSIII Limited Edition

Hyundai has announced the introduction of a new limited edition model of its Coupe (Tiburon in the U.S.) for the UK market. Called the “TSIII” -don’t ask why, we have no idea- the special edition version is based on the 141Hp 2.0-liter model and it features extra styling enhancements, an Eibach sport springs kit and exclusive colour options.

In particular, four paint colour options of Stone Black, Rose Red, Crystal White or Carbon Grey are available. Crystal White and Rose Red have never been offered on the Coupe before and are exclusively available on the TSIII in limited numbers. To complement and contrast with these colours, Hyundai has equipped the Coupe TSIII with new 17” alloy wheels finished in anthracite. Moreover, the Korean carmaker fitted the Coupe with new quad exhaust pipes that deliver a sportier engine note, while there’s also a larger boot spoiler with integral brake light. –Continued after the jump

Inside the cabin, the Coupe TSIII features leather sports seats and matching quilted door trims, chrome sill guards with a TSIII logo, metal trimmed pedals and footrest. As for standard equipment, the TSIII comes with air conditioning with climate control, heated front seats and cruise control along with iPod compatible stereo and metal-look finishes on the steering wheel, centre console and air vents.

The Coupe TSIII is already available for order at Hyundai dealerships in the UK with prices starting at £19,595 –about €24,800 or $38,900.

SEMA: Hyundai Tiburon by Mobis Parts

This greenly Tiburon (also known as the Coupe in several markets, including Europe) was created by Hyundai’s accessories group, Mobis Parts. Along with the KDM full-body kit by Tomato (yes, that’s their real name), supercharger by Next Generation Motorsports and Eibach suspension, the Tiburon hosted at the Korean carmaker’s SEMA stand also features prototype parts that will be in Hyundai dealerships’ parts departments in the near future. Hyundai’s RWD Coupe & 2009 Sonata Facelift Scooped

Whereas we we’re happily enjoying Mickey Mouse, Jaws and... ATM machines in Orlando, Florida, our fellow French blogger Clement Vezinhet from “Le Blog Auto” stumbled upon a Hyundai convoy in a parking lot full of 2009 Coupes and 2008 Sonatas during his vacations at the US. Talk about getting lucky… There’s not much to say about the restyled Sonata apart from that it should logically make its debut at the NAIAS Show in January.

And anyway, who cares about a Korean Camry when you have a rear-wheel drive coupe in front of you. From what we’ve gathered up to now, Hyundai’s successor to the Tiburon Coupe will be based on the forthcoming Genesis RWD platform and that it will be offered with a V6 powertain.
