Aston Martin Rapide Concept

In Detroit Aston Martin will show a four door concept car. The Rapide which has been clearly inspired by the DB9, is intended to compete with cars like the Maserati Quattroporte, Bentley Continental Flying Spur and the future Porsche Panamera

The Rapide which is based on the same platform as the DB9 and V8 Vantage is slmost five meters long and weighs about 1,900 kg. Under the hood lays a 480hp V12 engine. If Fords give the ok, the Rapide could go in production in 2008.

Chevrolet Epica / Daewoo Tosca

The all new Chevrolet (for Europe) /Daewoo (for Korea & Asia) / Suzuki (for the US) medium sedan will be equipped with 2 6cylinder engines, 2.0 & 2.5 litres. In Europe it will also be offered with a diesel engine.

EDAG Soltice Hardtop Concept

In its first-ever appearance at the Detroit Motor Show, EDAG will exhibit the Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop version. Inspired by the Pontiac Safari station wagons of the 1950s and 1960s, the convertible comes from the factory with a cloth top which disappears under a flap in the back when retracted. The EDAG designers have designed a special hardtop, including a new boot flap, for the Solstice which not only puts a solid roof over the driver’s head, but also gives the car a completely new appearance. , the EDAG designers have come up with a dynamic, elegant and contemporary variant of a sports estate.

Chrysler Imperial Concept

The Imperial rides on a 123-inch wheelbase, a 3-inch stretch over the 300C. To achieve the proper proportions for the concept, the overall length grows 17 inches to 214 inches, and the overall height is six inches taller than a 300C. The car rides on 22-inch turbine-finned wheels and tires, with passengers sitting nearly 7inches higher than in the 300C.
The flagship which is positioned a cut above the 300C has been designed in Chrysler’s Auburn Hills studio and it doesn’t mimic Imperials of the past, but it does draw on some of the styling cues from those older cars. On the other hand, as the 300C is seen as theBentley of the poor, the Imperial looks like a Rolls for the "poor". The front part of the car is the less atractive, as it could be easyly mistaken for a Chinese version of the Rolls.

Pontiac Solstice GXP 2.0 Turbo

Pontiac is taking the Solstice to a new level with the announcement of the turbocharged 2007 Solstice GXP. The Ecotec 2.0T GM’s first direct injection offering in North America. It produces 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 Nm), making it GM’s highest specific output engine ever, at 2.1 horsepower per cubic inch of displacement (130 hp / 97 kw per liter)
The turbo engine is connected to a standard five-speed manual gearbox, or an optional five-speed automotive transmission. Either transmission can propel the car from zero-to 60 mph in under 5.5 seconds.
